Fudoshin Shotokan Karate Club is one of Northern Ireland's newest most exciting karate clubs. Founded in 2010 by Sensei Don Geddis we offer training sessions in self-defence for all ages. Sensei Geddis is a fully qualified KUGB instructor and the Fudoshin club is affiliated with the KUGB.

Fudoshin is a state of "immovable mind" and "immovable heart". A spirit of unshakable calm and determination, courage without recklessness, rooted stability in both mental and physical realms. Within the Fudoshin Shotokan Karate Club this translates to students that are always confident and always of a focused mindset.

The word Fudoshin stems from the Japanese Buddhist deity: Fudo Myoo destroyer of delusion. Fudo Myoo is portrayed as carrying a sword in his right hand (to cut through delusions and ignorance) and a rope in his left (to bind "evil forces" and violent or uncontrolled passions and emotions). Despite a fearsome appearance, he has attributes of benevolence and servitude to living beings.

Powerful roots deep in the ground,

and a soft yielding resistance,

against the winds that blow through it"
